THE LOCATION

THE LOCATION
Located in the heart of Charleroi, L’Alba is part of a city shaped by its post-industrial past, now brimming with a vibrant artistic and creative energy. This central location makes it a strategic hub, in direct contact with a changing landscape where cultural initiatives, local dynamics, and new narratives intersect.
The house is a place of retreat within the city itself, where one comes to work, explore, and create, while remaining connected to what is happening outside. The encounter with Charleroi—its roughness, vitality, and freedom—deeply nourishes the artists in residence.
A place where time seems to slow down, where one can settle in, work differently, and open oneself to what emerges. L’Alba maintains this unique balance: being sheltered, yet just a few steps away from city life.
Upon entering, an exhibition hall offers a first glimpse of works in progress and, on sunny days, opens onto an English-style garden.
On the ground floor, the large reception halls host acoustic concerts, large dinners, conferences, as well as writing workshops and various creative practices.
Upstairs, the living and working spaces extend this experience: an artist’s studio that can accommodate one or two people, a fully equipped three-bedroom loft for longer stays, as well as practice studios,
particularly well-suited for writing, painting, and the visual arts.
These spaces offer an intimate setting that fosters concentration and the development of creative projects.
In the basement, an underground club features an intimate space designed to host projects focused on amplified music, with special attention paid to acoustics and equipped with high-quality, state-of-the-art gear.
